I bought a cheap USB capture device. I knew that the video/audio quality would suck goin in but it made a 4gb file of a 2 hour movie. WTF?!??!?!? If the quality is so low why the humongous file?
I suppose I'll get the size down when I edit but still.

Cause the captured file is probably in AVI format, right? AVI is huge... not really compressed yet...

cause its not a smart device.. the input coudl be anythign... its what your capturing how do i explain.. hmm
ok you have a bmp file.. that SOLID 50% grey... well we all knwo that its 50% grey right.. well your computer is thingin in that 500x500 pixil all those greys need to identified... now wehn you compress a file.. to jpg for example.. the compression is liek a 10:1... the average of 10 pixles in a square woudl be liek.. umm grey blue.. and the next group woudl be a lighter blue grey.. etc...etc.. and so those indexed pixels are now only 50... and your size is smaller....
does this help.. im horrible at explaining this..
