most nVidea you can select either one desktop or two.
If your taskbar doesn't stretch over both monitors, then you aren't going to be able to use these....

Yeah I can have 2 different desktops but it doesn't look like I can stretch them across.. :(

if your using an nvidia card enable nView and play with the monitor settings in there
