Default flying with a child

We are flying to florida next month and was wondering about flying with a child. She's 4 and pretty tall. She is still in a booster seat/baby seat. Do we need that on the plane for her to sit in? I know we need to take it for taxis and shuttles right?

I found a couple pages, they recommended to have a child seat for kids under 40lbs, here is a southwest link:

and another link:

The car seat on a plane is a lifesaver! We fly frequently and it saves us from a lot of stress. The child is already accustomed to the car seat so naturally they stay seated. Our first trip (and last) without the car seat my son figured out the seatbelt in 20 minutes. After that it was chaos!

I would say yes. At four she is in the gray area. If she does well in a car I'd say take the booster seat on the plane. She'll stay seated. Without it (in a new environment) she may want to explore (in a child's nature).
