Online Music

Just want to get some opinions. I'm looking at signing up for a legal music download site. Something like Napster, Itunes, etc. Since my favorite private torrent site(oink) got shut down, I'm without a reliable source for music. I don't trust public torrent or file sharing like Limewire and stuff like that. Anyone actually d/l music legally? Have any suggestions? Don't think it matters but I've got a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player.

As far as pay per downloads, the only one I've used was Walmart's... last time I got any there they were under a buck per song. Only problem is the DRM crap that comes along with them really limits you. I believe theres way to get around that but thats a pain. It pisses me off that you pay for a song and they still restrict what you can do with it. Maybe someone else can recommend a site that doesnt have DRM included with the download.

Yeah that's definitely something I want to get around. That's one of the main reason's I D/L'd via torrent was because I could do what I wanted with it.

I've only bought a few songs, and they were through Rhapsody. Didn't care for the subscription service much either. I just burned them to a disc and ripped it back to my computer free of limitations.

Apple does offer some tunes DRM free now on itunes, but I think they are 1.29 each instead of .99 (though I heard that is changing).

The only pay site I've used has been itunes. I believe they did recently change it so all the DRM free stuff is .99 as well. Personally, I actually like itunes. They have a huge selection, and I've found a lot of great, new, different music by browsing their catalog.

And 9.99 for an album is great!
