zune

Does anyone have any experience with them? Erin is looking at getting one to use when we work out and also just to have it around for trips, etc...

But just a side note, as far as available accesories, after the iPod, it seems Zune gear is pretty easy to find.

ipod's cost more and so far it seems all you're buying is the name or the 100000 accessories that they sell. If you don't want the i-dog, i-couch, i-bike, or i-toilet and the name doesn't matter, then what is the best? that's what i'm trying to find out or are they all the same for the most part? So far the zune seems fairly priced and can do everything the ipod can? Went to Best Buy and I was in shock at how many different manufacturers there are for these gizmo's now.

They're getting better reviews then the first generation zune. The 2nd gen one doesn't even have a equalizer though.

I agree...iPods are nice, but you're paying for the name. When an equivalent piece of gear from another maker costs 3-4 times less, why would you buy an Apple?

Cor you say Erin wants one for just working out and taking on trips. If thats "really" all, then you could get by with a fairly inexpensive unit for just playing music. I bought a Creative Muvo 1Gb before Xmas for $20 just to have an ultra small unit (about 1" x 2.5" ) that'll hold about 500 songs for when I work out or cut the grass. But I also have a Creative Zen 30Gb for all of my music, pictures, and movies. So it really depends on what she wants to do with it. If its just working out or taking a few hundred songs on a trip, I'd say go with a 1 or 2 Gb units and save the money. BTW, the reason I like the Creative brand products is because they're basically plug and play. No DRM, no being tied to Itunes...you just load whatever you already have on your pc and go.

i like my i pod because i have radio's in each car that my i pod plugs into and I can control my i pod through the stereo, It turns the i pod off and on I never have to touch it its pretty awesome

while i tunes does limit what you can do it is much easier to use then the couple other of softwares that come with the generic mp3 players ive tried to help family members with. I can make them work but trying to explain it to my non computer literate father or others forget about it. He eventually gave up and just bought an i pod

ive never tried the zune though

I don't know what's the hype with iPods, but there are so many other big brands out there that are better than iPod... have you check the ones from Creative or iriver or even from Samsung, Sony, or Panasonic, they all make some pretty nice Mp3 and Mp4 players.

By the way, are you looking for just a mp3 player or a portable media player?

Archos also makes decent PMPs...

This is a good site for reviews -> http://dapreview.net/

Also, check out this new ultra sleek player from iriver...

Check your router, some have a bandwidth limit feature on a particular internal IP address...

She got it today and I must say it's very easy to use and navigate. Very slick mp3 player...
