OK so new PC is here and setup. Holy shit I love... super speedy!

Now I need to move files from my old PC to my new one. New one is Vista, old one is XP. I'm very much a Vista newb.... so what are the steps I need to take to make the 2 talk on my network? My network is pretty standard... Linksys modem and Linksys router, nothing too special. I've allowed the files on my XP machine to be shared but I can't figure out how to find them on my Vista machine.

easiest way is to let the XP PC be the main Connection to the Network and the vista as the slave for now

all yer do then is hook up a Crossover Cable (XBOX ,PS3 has em as standard if you have one laying around) then enable sharing via the Shared Folders on XP then Vista drag and drop files on the XP machine into the Shared Folder on the XP machine

now then on the Vista Machine find the XP Shared Folder and Drag and Drop the files to yer chosen folder on the Vista Machine

that's it job done

Thats a lot more work then needed if he already has a network setup.

On your XP machine, go to start, run, and type in: "cmd" minus the quotes, and hit OK.
A DOS window will appear. type in: ipconfig
a bunch of numbers will appear. Write down the IP Address. It will probably be something like 192.168.1.100
We're done here, now goto the Vista machine.
Open a my computer window. In the address bar, type in: \\192.168.1.100 or whatever IP your other PC is. You should see any mapped drives within a couple seconds. You may be prompted for password depending on your setup, it is asking for the password on the XP machine.

Now you should be able to copy. On XP, your user settings are located in the "Documents and Settings" folder, under Vista it's been renamed "Users". You can copy the favourites folder over from the old PC to the new one (assuming you use IE), and your favourites will appear in Vista.

I got it figured... just shared the files on the XP machine to my network and took down the firewall temporarily. Found it on my Vista machine and copied em over. Thanks for the suggestions

I've taken some pics but I haven't uploaded them yet

Here ya go!

I didn't realize how MASSIVE the case on these things are. It's a good 5 inches longer than my other PC and probably 2-3 inches taller and wider.

I like it so far... haven't messed with any of the functions/macro keys yet but I'll get there

Best Buy has them on sale for $85 right now.

I bought one of these instead:

It's an Ideazon Fang. It's basically the left side of their popular Merc keyboard.
This way I still have a normal keyboard for day to day stuff, and a fully programmable pad for games.

It does take a while to get used to, it's getting better. The movement keys are great, more room so no cramping after hours of TF2.
I need to remap a couple buttons though because I have been hitting some things inadvertently.
I think it will be very good once I am used to it, all the keys are within reaching distance.
