Internet Explorer 8 - Another Gem from Microsoft!

Quote:
Microsoft released Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 today, available via adownload page. This beta is aimed squarely at Web site developers, but onMicrosoft's IE8 blog, the company encourages anyone to try it out.
You might want to proceed with caution before tryin IE8, though. I forged ahead and installed the beta--and I experienced more browser crashes during my hands-on than ever before. Prior to installing the IE8 beta, I had Internet Explorer 7 happily running along.
So far, I think I've identified an incompatibility between my Google and Yahoo Toolbars and IE8; that's my working hypothesis for now, at least. My colleague, Harry McCracken, has also installed the IE8 beta, and his only crashes came when he, too, iinstalled the Google Toolbar. Stay tuned for further reports the more we at PC World use IE8--I'm personally looking forward to giving WebSlices a spin.

Why are you running Yahoo and Google toolbars with either IE or FF? I really only used the search functions of the toolbars prior to them being integrated into both browsers.

I saw it, didn't really put much thought into it though. Been a bit preoccupied with trying to get taxes together so I can take to the accountant.

Why are people complaining about a Beta?
This is a BETA, beta #1 actually. It's early in development.

IE8 is a HUGE step in terms of standards compliance. It is much, much more standards compliant then IE7 (which in turn was much more then IE6).
This release was released for developers to get an idea how pages will look in IE8, it is in no way intended for production use.

IE6 was horrible, it ignored standards do developers had to write all sorts of hacks to make pages look right. This meant the pages often looked weird in browsers that actually supported the standards properly (like FF and opera).
IE7 started to fix this, IE8 will get it to the same level as FF and opera.

Now, the question is....

Will they close all the blatant security violations that IE is noted for?

o, that... well, I never click on that button, since my FF is always open, I just go to FF and access hotmail directly. It doesn't matter what browser you're using to access your mails, once you read them, it will sync with the messenger automatically anyway...
