Talking M$ Windows Vista SP1 is officially available!

Quote:
“Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) is an update to Windows Vista that addresses feedback from our customers. In addition to previously released updates, SP1 will contain changes focused on addressing specific reliability, performance, and compatibility issues; supporting new types of hardware; and adding support for several emerging standards,” reads a fragment of the Vista SP1 description.

Windows6.0-KB936330-X86-wave0.exe and the Windows6.0-KB936330-X64-wave0.exe downloads weigh in at 434.5 MB and respectivelly 726.5 MB, being tailored to integrate with both 32-bit and 64-bit Vista operating systems. As Microsoft revealed following RTM, only a select few languages are supported in the March release. The standalone version of Vista SP1 can be integrated exclusively with copies of Vista RTM with these language versions: English (US), French, German, Japanese, or Spanish (Traditional).

Standalone offline installation package: 32-bit (434.5 MB) | 64-bit (726.5 MB)

nope, your link... all your fault if my PC blows up.

Just to make sure it was legit I went through the "windows update" on my start bar, it pulled up the update for me to download.

you broke it vale.

Now I have this "customer experience improvement program" window that won't go away. It is asking me if I want to join, or not join.

not join is selected by default, but the "ok" button is grayed out. Once you move to "join" the ok button becomes available, then you can move back to "not join" and click ok, then it says "not responding" ... then you rinse and repeat.

I can't seem to locate it with task manager or anything..wtf.

Installed it yesterday on my testbed here at work, seems good so far. I barely use that machine though so I can't for any meaninfgul opinions.
I will try to install Vista 64 with sp1 included (I have a technet subscription) tonight on my main PC and see how it works out.

So far so good, installed Vista 64 last night, took less then half an hour from scratch.
So far, everything looks good. My sound card (Turtlebeach Montego), doesn't have any 64 bit drivers, nor does it appear they will bother anytime soon, so I'll have to switch to the onboard sound. It also has optical out though, so no great loss there.

Don't install this piece of SHIT if you're running an nVidia-based motherboard. I'm running a 680i SLi board, and after the update my ethernet was dead. Impossible to install the nVidia drivers again either, as system would crash when attempting that.

All leads to major instabilities and a million reboots and network problems trying to get the "update" back off again

I have heard some people with nvidia chipset motherboards are having issue. MS says this is because of poor drivers by nvidia, don't think nvidia has responded yet.

Yep... it's NVIDIA's fault.
