Media Player Classic for playing them.

Dvd Decrypter/Shrink for copying/decoding.

DVD Clone for burning images.

ConvertX for burning avi,etc files to dvd format.

I'm sure there are others; but that is what I have been using for a long time now.

All of the ones I mentioned are free, with the exception of Clone DVD. I think Slysoft makes it, and the symbol is a sheep I think.

There is another Clone DVD, but it's really shitty; so look for the sheep.

I agree with Mayo about MPC...

Media Player Classic + K-Lite Codec Pack Standard are all you need to play.

What's so good about MPC is that there is no installation, it's only one single file, can be run from anywhere.

media player classis works well, as does VLC.
K-lite codec pack, or "codec pack all in one" are both good compilations of codecs.
For burning, it's less clear as there are not many free burners out there. I'd try to find a friend with a Nero OEM copy, it comes with just about any dvd burner you buy.

It wants me to install zango software. Isnt that a harmful and annoying file?

Zango? What are you talking about?

There is no installation on MPC.

And K-Lite has no Zango.

Download the "STANDARD" package, not the "FULL".

lol.

I use both VLC and MPC. Both are fantastic, and not having to install anything for MPC is a huge plus.
