photoshop question

i use to have adobe ps cs3 but i dont have (unless some one can hook me up with an auth code) But what is the difference between photo shop and photo shop elements? Can you till cut and paste imigaes like we do to make fun and add text to photos. I would rather spend $50 than $400 to have the program. Anyone have Elements? And can share some info?

Here are the differences:

Adobe Photoshop vs. Photoshop Elements - A Comparison

If you need all the PS functions and don't want to pay, try GIMP.

Go with elements. I love Photoshop, but I gotta admit it's overkill unless you're into graphic design. Elements will let you do nearly any kind of retouch, chop, or photo-manipulation that you could want at home. Look at it this way...Elements is the watered down version of full blown photoshop, but its still about 50X more powerful than any of those cheesy photo programs that come with cameras and stuff.
