Mechanic or Shop in Northern Virginia

I'm getting ready to buy my first bike (used). To protect myself from making a bad investment, I want to take the bike to get checked out by a mechanic or shop first. However, since I'm a new rider I don't know any mechanics in Northern Virginia (Arlington, Fairfax, Alexandria areas). If anyone has a mechanic or shop they recommend, please let me know. I'd appreciate it.

I would see if there is a local race track for bikes around and go to one of the races and ask around there. Racers are usually happy to give advise. I would start there since they are into sport bikes and also know shops/mechanics that are too.

Or maybe find out where there is a bike night. Hooters usually has those everywhere.

I'm a little late to this post, but maybe I can recommend some places. Since it's been four months you've probably found someone already. In the NoVA area I can recommend Coleman Powersports in Falls Church. They have a repairshop and if their mechanics are as good as the rest of their staff then you're probably in good hands. My friends too my Nina 250R to Colgan Powersports in Manassas. They needed to clean the carbs since the bike had been sitting for a while. They got it done but it took several days for them to get to it. There is also MHKS in Manassas as well.
