Toyota Tundra WTF lol

I thought I would check out the new Toyota trucks jut for the hell of it as they are the worlds largest auto manufacture now.

I just looked up the highest option package and the biggest motor and it was 41,500.00 MSRP...... OMG

The sticker on my avalanche in 2003 was 43k and that's for American muscle with all the options.... how the hell do they think a jap truck is worthy of 41K?

I thought for sure they would be cheaper then the American trucks but I guess not....

Damn.

contrary to popular belief, the quality control in north american produced vehicles isn't so bad. (the Tundra is produced here too btw).

The Japanese truck manufacturers quality (at least Toyota) is better than the US domestic manufacturers....my Tacoma can't compare to my Ranger....Tacoma is so much better...

I saw the GMC Sierra Denali at 43K and 39K for the top line Sierra Crew Cab so they aren't that far off.. Why should they be cheaper?

I like the Titan a lot.. very nice truck I like the interior of it a hell of a lot more than the Tundra.. If I was going to buy a new truck it's a toss up between the Titan and the Sierra..

Titan is a good truck, but it's also built like a truck, with a wide factor of safety, made to take abuse.

the Tundra on the other hand.....

and don't get me started on the Hondas.

Import cars and trucks are known to be cheaper... I was just shocked that they were almost the same price.

Why should they be cheaper? Well because they have been for the last 30 years.... why are they not anymore? well it very well could be because they are raising the prices to match the US vehicle's. Why? Because they can.

Also take a look @ re-sale on a Toyota vs. American trucks. I just got 11g's for my 10 year old Tacoma from a dealership, if sold private coulda got 14 easy. No way a Ford ranger is going to get that kinda $$ after 10 years.

japanese vehicles do cost more, they have less attractive financing incentives (ie very few 0.0% for 5 yrs). only a limited number of models have large manuf rebates (ie >6-7k off sticker). And the reason is b/c the cars last with very little to no maintenance and have a higher resale value when it comes time to get a new one.

One of the vehicles I own is an 02 tundra, and it performs flawlessly with almost 150k on the clock.

Supra has 138k on the clock and it's on it's 3rd motor in the last 20k miles.

VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY reliable. Costs nothing to maintain.

ontop of that it's a **** to service, I mean I can do it but I'm more skilled than the average back yard mechanic, I don't mind the car and I'm not afraid of it, but it's not exactly for the faint hearted, and to say "Japanese car's don't need maintenance and can go 200k miles on an engine" is just not true.

I can go a million miles on any engine, provided I maintain it rigorously and don't flog the hell out of it. Thing is that I don't really maintain them rigorously, and I DO flog the hell out of them. Difference is ofcourse that any domestic car I've had has been able to take the abuse of being overheated and run wide open throttle most of the time. The Japanese stuff, has not.
