VW Golf GTI W12 650 Concept

Holy snappin' duckshit, this car is a wolf in sheeps clothing.

At the Worthersee 2007 meet for VW enthusiasts, Volkswagon pulled the wraps off the GTI W12 650 concept. A 6.0L biturbo 12 cylinder sits behind the front seats, dishing 650 horses to the rear wheels. Top speed is said to be over 200 mph, and it goes from 0-62 in 3.7 seconds. Volkswagen has upped the ante by throwing down a stunner: the Golf GTI W12 650 concept. The ultimate GTI in every way, this car has a claimed top speed of 325 km/h -- 201 mph! -- and a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) of 3.7 seconds.

This is a pure show car, so don't go running to your VW dealer waving around a fistful of cash. He won't be able to help you. Too bad, though, as this super Golf dishes out a mammoth 650 horsepower and over 530 ft lbs of torque from the 6.0L biturbo W12 it's got mounted behind the front seats. All that juice flows through a 6-speed automatic to the rear wheels, which are shod in some seriously meaty rubber.

Yeah, I would reckon you would need some serious input from Rod Millen to keep it happy on the road

shit there's lots of cars out there that make more than 530ft*lbs and are tons-o-fun to drive. I used to drive a Lingenfelter tuned ZR1 (NA package, not the bazillion hp twin turbo) and it was like 650 ft*lbs and it was an absolute blast.

I mean ya if you just whacked the whore wide open she'd spin like hell, but fack, just roll out of the throttle some and let her hook, being able to spin whenever you want is kinda nice as far as car control goes.

I agree with you again. This is getting to be a problem.

I'm so pissed that the viper is actually gonna have more hp than tq next year. Don't get me wrong, 600hp in stock trim is cool, but only 550ft*lbs to go with... not cool.

Don't get me wrong Junior, I love tyre destroying torque but that thing I imagine would be dangerous in the wrong hands. It needs a serious aero-kit to hold it on the road eg: Rod Millen helping out with it

ya but if it isn't dangerous, if any newb 2 days out of driving school can drive it... that's kinda counter to the point of a sportscar isn't it?
