Suddenly the 08 Gixxer with the racefit exhaust is looking better.

That really sucks that it take so long for Yamaha to step up.

Clicked on a few of the google links to help the guy out...

Sucks, but it seems like there's always problems with new models. They'll fix it. They even offered to buy back R6's last year from people that weren't happy about the 16.5K tach disaster. Yamaha is usually pretty good about making things right.

They are in time, but the fix for the 04 TPS took over two years... that is too slow IMO. I hope this one is sooner, but I do agree it will get fixed in time.

I still love the bike... but knowing it's there is a o pain in the ass. I have hit that spot twice not expecting it and it's not a good feeling lol

Not yet..... they are just starting to come out as the 07 is a new design for them.... I just looked at a set of Gilles VCR's and they seem to be very nice... just the wrong color.

i'm sure you've looked extensively, and often....
have you seen ANY SIGN of problem with the rearsets on YOUR bike?

are they fracturing at the bolt-on sites?

No, not yet anyway - I think the only people who are having problems are the people who have dropped there bike on that side or people have hit something with the right rearset. It's still not nice to know you can't trust them though... so they will be replaced as soon I figure out what to get.

Too bad you don't know any airline mechanics. (or do you?) They should have a dept. that X-rays engine parts for structural integrity. You'd be able to see any imperfection in the pegs then. My old welding instructor worked for united over 25 years and told us all about it.

Well I have never had any rearset's brake on me on any of the R1's I have had... I don't do stand ups and rarely put much pressure on them.

I'm not afraid of them, but they will be replaced on this bike as soon as there is something on someones shelf to buy.

Fo sho', I've never had any problems either. Anything concerning safety gets dealt with, with shiny new upgraded bits
