Good find!

There's been a lot of debate on this in the Duc forums. If supersport increased displacement for the smaller twins, I think it would help them justify production.

The pricing in the article is probably off. Ducati lowered the price of their 1098 models by about $4-5k for comparable 999's.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 848 base around $12-13K.

Hopefully they make it. It would be a blast on the track!

On a side note: The article talks about why Ducati didn't go with 1099 as the name for the new bike. They site a historical link to the 998 &888 names. Fair enough, but I also read something re. their not wanting to name the new bike after a well known US Tax form - the 1099. Kinda funny.

Okay bring a dead thread back to life. The bike is no longer just a thought. The dealer told me i can take mine home after the release party on dec 15th. I went with the white cause i have an 07 zx-6r that have every single nut bolt, and adjuster blacked out. So its a 1098 frame, and body, minus the mono-block calipers but they are still brembo. Wet clutch, and better power to weight ratio then the 999. They claim it tips the scale at 40 lbs lighter then the 749.

everyone knows the 848 is a reality
easily going to be a best seller for Ducati
it should outsell the 1098 with no problems
will it be more reliable than the 1098? I hope so

I want one bad enought that I'm starting to consider selling what I have now to get a down payment together.

Here's the question: Should I ride it on the street or make it my track day bike?
Obviously I could do both but if I was gonna track day it, I would want race fairings and all.

848 sounds like a promising bike and the cc is perfect. Wish Suzuki would bump the 750 to an 800cc. Especially to mimic the "motogp" bikes. It would surely help sales a ton I would imagine.
