Intro to HONG KONG...

It seems that many people, especially in North America, are still confused or unfamiliar between Hong Kong and China, cause most of the time they just show people here the bad side in the media... yes it's true that HK was giving back to China in 1997 by the British gov., but it doesn't mean it's the same as mainland China... and no, HK is NOT communist... people from HK can easily go into China, but not the other way around...

Currently, HK is SAR(Special Administrative Region), we still have our own flag, currency(HKD), borders, and even our own domain(.com.hk)... China quaranteed us 50 years to be under SAR... and we're still one of the most capitalist place in the world with the 2nd highest living cost in Asia, right behind Tokyo... and we're still the city with the most Mercedes Benz in the world...

HK is a city with over 7.5 millions people, imagine the whole province of Quebec have only 6 millions people... we have to make more lands out of the ocean... this is why living spaces are so expensive in HK... $1 mil. USD won't buy you a very big appartement... and just to buy a parking spot in your own appartment can cost you hundreds of thousands... this is why people that don't have a car, they'd rather sell or rent their parking space to someone else that has a car...

City of HK is basically seperated by the ocean as you can see in the 3rd pic... there is the "Hong Kong" side and the "Kowloon" side...

http://www.info.gov.hk/eindex.htm

Please be patient... I've a lot of pics to post... they're not taken by me, but you will get an idea... I'll unlock the thread once I finish posting everything...

Our bus system(KMB)... it even have a screen that tell you exactly which street the bus is currently on... and you can watch TV too... :corn

http://www.kmb.com.hk/

Also, take a look at this "Octopus" card we use in HK... it's basically a cash card for your basic need... it works in MTR, KCR, KMB, 90% of convenience stores, phramacies, vending machines, and many many other things and shops... all you have to do is place that card on top of that reader, no need to type in pin or anything, and you're good to go, it will take out the amount you owe and then tell you the balance of your card... you can recharge it in a few seconds in any of those places above... I think the maximum the card can hold is $500 HKD(approx. $65 USD)... They should introduce this system in North America...

Another famous thing in HK is the fireworks... I've traveled to many many places in the world and I've never seen nicer fireworks than HK...

Remember the Tsing Ma bridge? Check out the fireworks that drops like waterfall along side the bridge...
