HELO Talent

Pretty Bad ass...

This is what was in the email
This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan of a helo rescue mission. The pilot is a PA Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life. Now how many people you reckon could set the ass end of a chopper down on the roof top of a shack on a steep mountain cliff and hold it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear

almost everyone of them. on a ch47 youve got a crewchief and a flight engineer one of whom would be back on the ramp calling the pilots moves. nice pic though

miss it so much.

we'd do the same stuff...one wheel to a rooftop where there wasn't enough room to land, low enough so the troops could jump out the door. prolly MUCH easier (and more comfortable) to do it with two tail wheels than a left or right mainmount on the H-60. with the tail wheels, they can just set the ass down nice and level...with a left or right main mount, always felt like we were going to roll over when the pilot would lower collective a little....and we would have if he did.

That is talent! One slip and down it would go. My hat is off to those guys/gals.
