the supercruise thing kinda bugs me tho. There's been LOTS of planes capable of supercruise before now, but they changed the definition from supersonic to mach 1.2 so that the F22 would be the only one to fit into it.

But vectored thrust is totally tits I prefer the soviet hydraulic control one from the mig-29 tho, guess I'm just overscared of electronic management.

I agree Junior, I still believe supercruise is any jet (thrust) engine that can get to supersonic speed eg: Mach 1 and sustain it without the use of wet thrust (afterburner).

On another note, there still aren't many aircraft in the world that can go Mach 1 or higher at sea level. F111 can, far as I know the B1 can (that would be awesome to see mind you), plus some of the newer military fast jet fighters (Raptor), I imagine some of the Russain and Euro toys can achieve this threshold and exceed it as well.

yessir, the supercruise thing is a bit of propoganda methinks. forsure there's other planes out there that can do it. Including the spirit I'm quite sure. Which is also a badass plane.

ASL that's true I think, but at altitude I'm fairly sure it's capable of supersonic, and since it's not got an afterburner that'd pretty much make it win by default in my books.

Bitchen plane there, altho my tastes lately have swung to the cheap and surviveable heavy hitters rather than the super sophisticated stuff.

Mig-29's and A-10's in particular.

I'll always be an A-10 fan, it's sort of America's equivalent to the Russian Hind in the survivability stakes
