Hey Junior

Since you're a sled guy, I thought you might like this. Do you ever get into this during the off season? Or is this not your cup of tea?

I know, I never even knew this was a "SPORT"

I remember when I was a kid I use to watch people water skip their sleds on the frozen lake over a thawed section about 50 yards long. I didn't even know it was possible to keep a snowmobile going for that long on the water, much less taking turns etc.

Really cool. If I had the money to blow I would LOVE to try this. I'm sure I would fail horribly but I would still hop on one and WOT the thing just to see how far I could go.

I've played with it a bit ya, but not professionally. I raced grass drags professionally in the summer for a couple of years tho, made more doing that than I did working actually.

They survive pretty well if you know how to put 'em in right. Once they start going down get the killswitch down and shove the clutch side in to stop the motor so you don't hydrolock it. Being a 2-stroke they're easy to "get back" just drain the fuel and spray some WD-40 down the plug holes, you're good to go.

I've watched grass races myself as well, way back in the day. That is a blast to watch. Too bad I have horrible allergy's and couldn't stay long.

yea it's mega dusty. Popular to watch tho 'cause it's the only place you'll see the new iron run before the snow flies. Asphalt is starting to take over that role tho, another couple of years and it'll be somewhere. For the moment tho asphalt sled drags aren't nearly as professional, and not as much money input as grass. I think in 5 years it'll be the opposite tho, infact I'll be surprised if one of the factories doesn't have a factory team by this time next year.

I wonder how fast a 530 odd HP sled motor will go on the grass Junior?

yea having something like 6 square feet of contact patch sure makes for a violent launch.

Unfortunatly CVT's and big tracks suck up a lot of hp out the topend. it might be over 140 in the 1/8th mile, but I'd honestly be surprised if it had 200hp in it top-end, altho they haven't tried so who knows.
