Helicopter Blade Illusion

This is a couple year old video of a helicopter flying around. Except the camera's speed is synced to the rotation of the copter's blade which makes the blade, get this, appear as if it isn't spinning.

When we were doing our rotary wing vibration analysis course. We could make the helicopter blades stand still at night time with the timing strobe light.

Yup like watching a front wheel camera on a Motorcycle, and the rotors look like they are spinning backward or sitting still too. That video is trippy..

Playing with strobes guns is fun and also deadly. Guys have walked into spinning propellers from aircraft strobes. Not pretty, the prop just eats them.

yea no doubt, even a spinning rad fan is goddamned dangerous under a timing light, it LOOKS like it's standing still but you gotta remind yourself that it's not.
