Btw... I don't get this... if we can see that IR beam... then couldn't the enermy see where the IR beam came from and then launch a few missles back to that spot(s) too?

your eye can't detect infrared energy, but certain optics (i.e. filters) would be able to. 8)

I know... but those type of optic filters, I'm sure the enermy has those too... that's why I'm wondering how they prevent from a counter attack...

night vision goggles pick them up normally. that's how i cheat when we play war games in the military. at night i always ask to carry the night vision goggles as many don't like the extra baggage. but many also don't know that it picks up our miles gear (war g ear that beeps when hit). so i see a bunch of lines on that combat field. put my line where the enemy ones are coming from and duck when i see a line headed my way.

i always kick ass...little do they know why LOL

If you watch closely, the targetting and the firing happen from a different angle.

I assume if you're the target, and the IR beam is shining on you, it's pretty much like someone shining a high power flashlight in your eyes if you're wearing NVG's. You'll be flooded with light, and you will not be able to pinpoint the source.

The guy standing 2 ft right or left of the one shining the flashlight has the target nicely lit up and ready to be taken down...

Yeah I noticed the shooting and the IR beams are coming from different places... but still, I don't think you want your enemy to attack the soliders whose are aiming the target with the IR beam... also, I guess I know what you mean by how the IR beam shining directly on you... but I don't think your enemy is located in one spot only... I'm sure they're spreaded all over the field too, so some of them can counter-attack... no?
