SAN MATEO, Calif. More than one (m) million owners of iPod music players will be able to replace their defective batteries on Apple's dime, after a judge approved the settlement of a class-action lawsuit against the company.

The lawsuit claimed that Apple failed to disclose battery limitations on its first three iPod models. The device was advertised to have eight hours of play when fully charged, but users complained that play time gradually decreased after months of use.
Under the settlement approved Thursday, customers who bought iPod's first two models will be entitled to either 25 dollars cash or a 50-dollar credit at an Apple store. Or, if they paid Apple to repair an iPod battery, the company must refund half of the cost to them.
Those who own iPod's third model will get a free replacement battery if it fails.
Consumers who qualify for reimbursement have until May to file. They can get instructions on how to file at http://www.appleipodsettlement.com.

50 dollar credit. Cool but it should be free. I can buy a new battery for 29$ and install it myself. Wonder how much apple charges? 99$?? LOL better to take the 25 cash from apple.

Sucks becuase the picture is not very visable... Its a small LCD and no Card slot on it.

Dont get me wrong it does what it needs to do...

I had a 20 gig media player that had a cf card slot on the side of it. I was able to upload all my pics whenever I pleased.
