i worked on those for 4 years.....hornets suck.

as the pilots used to say....."jack of all trades, master of none".

she's a plastic airplane, and airspeed limited. a few of ours were limited to mach 1.2 due to structural fatigue....and were only 11 years old.

when it first came out, the navy didn't want it......congress did. same story with the super hornet. someone (read...congress) felt the tomcat airframe was too old to update and upgrade. don't want to be caught driving anything old, ya know.

so instead, lets be REALLY creative and build a copy of a shitty airplane....only make it BIGGER!!!!

sorry fjorn, didn't mean to flame. just not impressed by that airframe.

i was in the blue angel's c130 w/ jato...pulled a few nice g's for a c130. i was in shock. the worst part was the damn flight crew talked me into going into the bubble up top (where your head sticks out the top). yah my head bounced around in their so bad after 3 sec of taking off i looked down to see the crew laughing and i nicely flipped them all off as i was sitting on a cloth strap (like a swing set) on the ceiling of a plane taking off w/ jato with my head in half a bubble. then the worst? THE WINGS FLAP LIKE CRAZY when they do their high G turn...omg i thought they were gonna snap!

btw that plane is called "fat albert" to the blue angels and it rocks!!!! if i could enlist 5 of you assholes in the guard they would let me go up in an f16 two seater

No worries. I've never been able to see one up close. When I was in the Corps, I didn't get a chance to talk to mechanics or pilots who worked on them. I was a lowly Motor-T junkie. I love the design of the F/A-18's more than anything else about it.

Truth be told, these are my all favorite airplanes of all time: I love 'em more than I do the P-51's

P-38's are up near the top as well.
