Found out

Today my mom called me crying, the rehab/nursing home that my grandpa is in after his stroke removed the feeding tube (from my mom and uncles request), he aspirated last night a lot and got a bunch of fluid in his lungs so pneumonia is inevitable and he is way to weak to fight that off. The stroke has left him in pretty bad shape, every time I go see him he can't talk can't walk just sits there and asks you questions that are hard to understand or they are from back when he lived in Chicago when my mom was first born.

I hate seeing my grandpa deteriorate like that. And I know he wouldn't want to live like that. So the nursing home is going to make sure he isn't in any pain and he could pass anytime.

I don't know why I am posting this I guess I just have to tell someone.

I watched my grandfather wither away as well. He knew it was coming and so did we. I'm sorry to hear it Ryan, I know what it's like going through that. I just hope it's painless for him and he's as comfortable as they can make him. My thoughts will be with you and your family man...

Sorry to hear that Rinn. I've been there numerous times with my grandparents, and my mom passing away as well. All I have now on my side is my immediate family, my dad and a sister who's about as worthless as a rotting popsicle stick.

Hope he passes peacefully.

Talked to my sister yesterday and had to hold back the tears for her.. She asked me if she should fly out from LA, I told her no, she doesn't need to see our grandpa unable to talk walk or do anything by himself. Since the stroke he has random coherent times. I got a test tomorrow in my marketing class so I am going to see him afterwards.

We are having movers put all his stuff from his place in my garage tomorrow so I will probably go up with my Mom aferwards. I have been keeping myself busy with class and I started working out again and playing racquetball, its the downtime when I start to think about it get teary eyed. I almost started to cry on the lightrail today when I was listening to my IPOD and a sad song came on. I am sure it will hit me tomorrow when I go see him..
