Not really fond of the watches pictured above.... Indeed, PM Downtown...But be prepared to shell out at least 5k$ if you follow his advice

Since a watch never lasts long with me (scratch it, lose it, break it...) I go for the el cheapo 250$ variety...

IMO, watches are not worth the investment into them. If you're going to buy it for a time piece, then buy a sub $100 model that you can afford to replace if it gets lost, stolen or damaged.

If you're going to buy it as an "heirloom" (stupidest argument I've ever heard for a watch, and too many people are hung up on the whole Magnum PI thing), I can think of countless other things to do that with.

You're young. If you want to drop money on something, buy a savings bond. It'll be worth more money than that watch will be in the same amount of time.

Ahhahahahaha :laugh

I'm with ya. I sit in front of this computer all day, which displays the time. Otherwise, I'll whip out the cell phone and look at the time.

I guess if you are in to watches thats cool too. But I've seen guys with $1000 or $2000 watches rolling Honda Civics and living in Apartments... Why front?

Hey I love nice watches too! :

fjorn, I see what you're saying, but for some people, these watches are like a hobby/collectible items... it's like some people would by a $3000+ handgun/rifle(this I would also) or stereo system or anything... I don't see what's the problem with that, you know what I mean...

Yeah, it's each person's desire on what they collect. For myself, it's knives, swords and some artwork. Although, my collections are pretty minimal at best.

For myself, I look at it like KD. I'm at a computer 90% of my working day, so I can always see the time that way. When I'm away from the computer, I look at my cell phone for the time. Otherwise, there's the clock on the VCR, stove, microwave, in the cars, or darn near anywhere for that matter.

I used to wear watches all the time, but they started to catch on too many things and I found I was removing them far too often to do stuff.

the only time I wore a watch was when I was in the Army. Even then, I had it on my belt loop, and it was a cheapo Ironman

My opinion: The third one is too plain. Out of the 1st and 2nd I picked the first because the face has more contrast to the band than the second one. That makes it stand out a little more.

Here's mine (same thing: dark face and contrasting band) Seiko Kinetic. Nice heavy watch, no batteries, runs on body motion. Had it 10 years now. When it wouldn't hold a charge as long as it used to I sent it to Seiko and had them put the new guts in it. Now it'll essentially go into stand-by and hold a charge for up to a year even if you don't wear it.
