Damage control w/ Da Vinci Code

Man all the Churches around here and then on TV I keep seeing.

"Deconstructing the Da Vinci Code"
"The Real Da Vinci Code"
"Beyond the Da Vinci Code"

and they all are just going after the book like crazy.. I mean come on it's a book I know it's not all real but the fear that people have about it and the fact that they are throwing out all this propaganda (I use that loosely) trying to make people REALLY disbelieve the entire book..

I find it funny, and a little pathetic

Yeah they (the religious faction) keep saying the movie will make people believe that the story is factual. Sounds like a piss poor excuse to me. Since when do people believe everything in the movies? I think they're just going off the deep end and need something to bitch about.

yes, you are right. people never believe movies are factual do they.

Everyone knows that 90%+ of what was in "Bowling for Columbine" was not factual don't they.
Same thing for "Fahrenheit 9/11".....

Ohhhh and don't forget the millions of college people who just Knew that "The Blair Witch Project" was nothing but a crappy movie, shot by three kids as a joke.....

Yep.

People never believe anything they see in movies........

:imwst The book and the movie are just a bunch of bullshit (and what's more serious is that even the author knows for a fact that it's bullshit and pretend he doesn't know it) presented in a way to make people believe it's all true and factual.

The sad thing is that millions beleive in it just because it's printed in a book and has lots of publicity
Mental it

You buy the book in the Fiction section so if they are dumb enought to still think it's fact then thats their fault for being stupid.

and of course Dan Brown is going to play along that he doesn't know, do you know how much his sales have increased on that book..

plus he used to say that some of the facts are true and some are just varaitions of others but he made those comments way before the movie came out or they announced it..

people believe what they want

Fact or fiction, the movie pisses all over what some people truly believe in, so they are going to stand up and say something about it. Don't you think the Muslims would get in an uproar if a movie was made to portray Muhammed as a pole smoking homo? Yet, because of the double standard that exists that type of movie (or any other movie which would be considered a slap in the face to any other type of religion) will never be published. Yet, we can rag on Christianity all day long...

Regardless it's still a great book to read. The fun comes from it's ability to blur the lines between fact & fiction on something with such significant impact.

The movie however wasn't as good as the book. There are too many subtle things that just don't come across on the big screen. It doesn't make it a bad movie - just not as good as the book.

People can rant & rave. It will all be forgotten tomorrow. In the mean time it's just free publicity.

I could give a shit if someone is gullible and uneducated enough to believe "everything" they see on the big screen. I don't remember saying that every movie produced is devoid of facts, however if there are idiots out there waiting for Scotty to beam them up just because they saw Star Trek.....well, hopefully natural selection will take care of them.

kinda funny i learned about a lot of the theories in the da vinci code a few years before the book came out in a college course

if you truly have faith then no movie or book is going to effect it, if you dont then it gives you something to ponder

That's the way I look at it....just for it's entertainment value, nothing more.

I watched it for purely entertainment value. That's all.Taken that way, I thought it was a pretty good movie.
