Don't like soccer. It's really popular in Europe, but I can't shake the impression I'm watching 22 Neanderthals who are getting paid millions to run around and kick a dead cow filled with air around.

only to see the player get up and start running around again......

You as a European should not be able to say "Soccer" and get away with it.

Goddammit it's called FOOTBALL.

And about what R1Budha said, anyone who dives or even pulls someones shirt in a way that it hinders play will instantly be removed from the match and recieve a 1 match ban.
Just cause in the USA FOOTBALL is 100 years behind on the rest of the world doesn't mean it's instantly shit.
Football is NOT about faking injuries, that's what poor playing countries do. Or south Americans, they seem to do it alot aswell.

They ruin the game, and it's a great decision by FIFA to finally punish them accordingly.

These next 4 weeks are going to be absolutely brilliant and I doubt I will be sober 1 single day during all this.

Opening match drew close to a billion viewers already. It's for a reason that it's the biggest sport in the world.

Alex what you said about people getting paid millions to walk around on a pitch for 90 minutes. Mate look at almost every other big sport. Basketball players make even more money, even in racing they make fortunes nowadays. It's not their fault that sponsoring companies make millions sometimes billions of them because they play well, so what let the player get paid accordingly. Who cares? They enterain and thats all that matters. Movie actors make millions aswell, to walk around infront of a camera and speak memorised lines. The money rant can keep going forever.

It's the biggest sports event in the world, hate it or love it. It's been round for over 110 years, it's here to say :r1budha

Caffeine isn't what's flowing through me at the moment. I got my hands on some "Palm". Which I haven't had it years since they don't sell it down here

Palm is good...although the people around you probably won't enjoy it tomorrow In Belgium, we have a word for the day after Palm.... Palmscheten... Translated it's Palm-farts.

I brought 12 bottles of Leffe 9% to my colleagues in the states... They enjoyed it but they were smashed after 2 of them

Ahhhh.... Belgian beers rule !

I agree, Belgian beers are awesome.

I love Leffe, Hoegaarden, Palm, Duvel and many others.

I also like the special Grolsch beers that were brought out a few years ago (het Kanon etc). But I doubt they made it outside Holland.

Ecuador isn't all that bad. Hurtado has been around for many many years.

Poland's squad isn't too great though.
I hope the Polish supporters remain calm. The Polish have a very large and very violent supporters group.

and they wouldnt be instituting this rule if it wasn't a problem and didnt need to be addressed now would they......

so my statement must be based in some part on truth then must it not?

i thought so.....

just like the fact that there is rampant racism in soccer (yes i said soccer). So much so that amazingly, FIFA also had to institute a policy regarding removing points (3, the same amount as a win) from any team that was guilty of it.....

again, they dont make rules to combat situations that don't exist......

Your acting like every one is guilty of this. There's a bad few that have been the reason for this to happen in FOOTBALL today.
I don't know how racism and diving is handled in the US, and how common it is.
What I do know is that the racism rules are from many years ago when the "black" football player were on the rise in football. That was when the rules were created around racism.

And saying that football is all about the diving and faking injuries and then walking off etc is plain dumb and stupid.
Have a look at some of the european leagues. You won't see much of this behaviour.
