KOTV - 6/16/2006 7:46 AM - Updated: 6/16/2006 8:29 AM
A man is shot and killed after Tulsa Police say he attempted to break into an West Tulsa apartment.

According to officers, it happened at about 5:15AM at the Sandy Park Apartments in the 6100 block of West 11th Street. Police say a man was in his apartment with his wife and child. He heard someone trying to break in and grabbed his rifle. Just as the suspect crossed the threshold, the man fired several shots. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died. His name has not been released. No one else was hurt.

As for the shooter, he has been questioned by police but it does not appear any charges will be filed. Police say they believe the man acted in self defense. Witnesses have collaborated his story.

Good. a man should not be charged with anything for defending his wife, child, and property against someone unlawfully entering his home.

Your family members usually break in when they drop by instead of ringing the door bell?

I'm glad the guy was shot. Once you step over that line to invade someone's home, you've given up the right to expect to walk back out safely and without harm.

Isn't it amazing that states with "carry" laws usually have a lower violent crime rate?

Living in AZ a few years ago, It was nothing to see some guy(or gal) walk in with a pistol on their hip. Didn't bother me a bit.
