Is anyone Buddhist?

Before I ask questions just thought I'd see.

I guess you could say I am.

I'd really consider myself more of an agnostic/athiest/don'tgiveafuck

but I'm definatly more parts buddhist than any other religion. That said I probably wont be able to answer any serios questions.

I'm a sound believer in Buddhism's philosophies.

Work in the Middle East for a few years and you soon learn to be calm and not let things get to you. The thai's have a saying for a cool heart (Jai Yen), as opposed to a hot heart (Jai Lorn). I try to be on the Jai Yen side of things as much as I can. Jai Lorn does pop up once in awhile, but that generally happens on the motorbike :jimmie

Werd, that's kinda what I'm trying to say.

Be calm, don't let shit get to you, you'll be happier and more productive, shit isn't that a lesson anyone who races has learned?

The reason I'm asking is when Pond gets here we have to get married within 90 days or she loses her visa. we are planning a traditional Thai wedding in her hometown when we can go back but I dont just want a civil ceremony here and since i've been to church once in my life (when I was being babysat) I have no affiliation and as a result no one to ask for advice on a ceremony.

I found a thai buddhist temple fairly close by I am going to contact but my question is, is there a way to be married in a buddhist temple or by a monk or something like that?

any good racing org usually has a minister of some sort on site during race weekend and can also perform outdoor ceremonies that are non-denominational as well..

as to the Buddhist thing, it really depends on the "temple" and how they view themselves.

Most will, but there have been some more strict ones lately popping up that will not unless you are a member.

personally, i'd say go for the JP thing, and don't sweat it.

my best friend in the world did it, and has not regretted it at all.
he did it in 1992 btw.......

Anyone with a JP license can perform the ceremony. I know of two friends that were wed in May by a friend that paid 15 bucks to get his license online.

If that doesn't work- do Vegas. That's what Pat and I are doing come Oct 21. We couldn't agree on the church that his family wanted us to get married in vs the church we attend, vs the boring ass JP in the court house. So we're doing Vegas now. It'll be a great vacation for both of our families and it's actually pretty classy.
