Just baked my first...

Peach Cobbler! It's cooling off right now, made everything from scratch. I was inspired after watching Alton Brown's show on cobbler. (Good Eats). I think he has a motorcycle show coming up too.

that was a mixture of flour, salt, shortening, and some other stuff. You spoon it onto the peaches and then it forms the crust. I guess it's kind of like a biscuit...

next week I'm trying lamb with a cucumber sauce, roasted potatoes and a pecan pie for dessert. Hope it goes well...

seriously, you are right on. I really don't count lunch during the week as "eating out" since it's just a subway sandwich or something. That aside, I've been eating at home (nights and weekends) for a week or two now, and it is great. I think the wife and I went on a streak for about a month where we ate out almost every single day, sometimes twice a day. I dont care if the food was $10 a plate or $50 a plate, it all started to taste the same, and I was getting sick of it.

So, now I'm cooking at home more. I'm sure we'll go out again, but this time in moderation. Something about home cooked meals is great, especially when they are on the grill.

Fresh herbs and vine marinated salmon steaks, with roasted vegetables on the BBQ is my speciality. Usually a Sunday dinner event that our two year old enjoys.
I work till 2000hrs so during the week my wife cooks, and eating out is takes place one or twice a month tops. I can't stand spending money on something I can make better at home.

btw, cobbler is basically pie filling with biscuit mix on top....

it's a "cobbled" together dessert
