Feasting on Asphalt......

Well i wasnt sure what to expect, and obviously I didnt expect it to be a "motorcycle" show, but i must admit, I liked it.

i was sitting here trying to figure out what it was about this show that was making me feel good, and it took me until about 3/4 of the way through the show to figure it out.....

the people are real.

no "cute, and sexy" famous named host who can barely cook but with a low cut top on telling people how to cook.

no food that is so obscure or so complex that nobody would be making it in their own home without a $100k kitchen in their house.

no "extreme" chefs or "bad boy" attitudes who are "part rocker, part welder, and part cake decorator".

nope, none of those.

instead we had the fat guy who mows the grass for free and runs "The Biscuit Place" and eschews frozen biscuits because *gasp* his customers told him they sucked.

or we get the "sole" food mama who started her restaraunt on absolutely nothing but a promise and a prayer, and is still going 7 years later and loves what she does.

and we even get the "authentic" diner that wasn't. And yet was thought to be because students thought it was.......

i love the fact that real people are being shown doing what they love, and succeeding at doing it for the most part.

no california cuisine....
no neuvo riche new york cuisine.....

nope. none of that.

it's amazing what we actually see.

Real americans, no matter what they look like, and the real people who frequent their establishments....

now if we could just get the rest of the world to watch and see what America is really all about.

it's not Starbucks latte's and internet cafe's, but rather everyday people. working hard, for the joy of it, and succeeding due to their own efforts......

The American dream is alive and well, despite what politicians, media people, and "pundits" want us to believe....

Hopefully the show continues along this track, and personally, i think it will........

I loved it, and set the DVR to record the entire series. Alton Brown is pretty cool. I loved the part when he tried to eat the pig foot

I'm a big fan of Alton Brown, especially his Good Eats show.

Are you serious about the broken collar bone bit?

iit is the rumor, and the foodTV site talks of an accident in vague terms in episode 4

I love all of Alton Brown's shows.

A few weekends ago I caught a Sunday "Feasting on Asphalt" marathon! I watched every one!
