I know how it goes. I've been going through the application process for like 3 months now. I've had to undergo: approx 30 page application, computer and general skills testing, multi-person interview, background checks, credit check, professional and personal reference checks, medical physical, psychological review, and a drug screening. I've passed everything, the only thing left is the polygraph test, which I'm hoping I can schedule for next week. It's a long process....just keep at it.

Depends on who runs the operation. Here in Cape Coral, the Dispatchers and 911 Operators are actually part of the police department, therefore I have to go through the same application process all P.D. employees do. If where you're at it falls under a different branch of the city, you may not have to go through such stringent checks.

He can mis-spell "grammer" all he wants....unless they have a spelling portion of the test...

I had a vocabulary section on my test. Now I've always thought I was fairly well educated, but some of these words threw me for a loop. I can't remember them all, but I do remember 2: prestidigitation and hirsute I just looked them up...I got hirsute correct. Means "hairy". Can't remember what I put down for the other. But there were some words on there that I had no idea about.
