CageFighting

I start tomorrow!!:corn Been bulking up building muscle and strength to get ready to start fighting!! I been boxing for a while and today I went to a place that trains in Brazilian Ju Jitsu (Dean Lister is the trainer) and signed up...

So my schedule goes as:
6:30 am- Boxing
7:30 am- Weights
5:30 pm- Brazilian Ju Jitsu
6:30 pm- Muai Thai
7:30 pm- Open Mat
8:30 pm- Weights

This will be mon-fri schedule

Sat and Sun
10 am kick boxing
12 pm mixed ju jistsu

So it means no more riding for me for a while... only cruising... tough choice but its something Ive wanted to do for a while.

Jebus!! thats quite the schedule. Huge respect though to anyone that gets in a ring with one other person. Good luck let us know how it goes. when is your first match?

Dont most guys slim down to fight though? I'd think any superflous muscle mass would just wear you out.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone in better physical shape than a mma fighter your cardiovascular and muscular endurance has to be phenomenal.

Ill be dropping from 205 to fight in the 185 or even 175 weight class. Ill be training for 6 months to a year before i step into an amatuer fight.. i want to critique and develop new skills. I been a stand up fighter but now its time to learn the ground game.

My cardio is ok right now but not where it needs to be at. Im pretty strong as it is, i rep 300lbs bench, squat 600, etc... but I do need my cardio up.. I got some workouts that will do the trick since I ran track and field all my life.

definetly work on your grappling man... grapplers are usually (usually) the better fighters..

not true lol. If I can stop the take down then the grappler has no chance, he will have to start a stand up fight and thats what grapplers want to advoid. Chuck Liddel, Rich Franklin are stand up fighters, while Matt Hughes is great at ground and pound as well as grappling but know for grappling..

Wanderlei Silva the best fighter in the world is a striker... he has deadly knee strikes.

ITs mixed martial arts fighting... maui thai, ju jistsu, boxing, etc.. all different styles fighting in a ring or cage depending on what company you fight for.. The fight goes until one person is knocked out or cant defend him self properly or even taps out.

Do you wear padding on your feet and boxing type gloves? Also I imagine head gear is a must or someone would get killed

Nope they were around 6oz gloves no head gear or anything else just the gloves.. I'll see if I can find a video of it..

yep theres barely any padding on the gloves... Its one of the fastest growing sports in the world. You have to be well defined with ground game and stand up in order to succeed. You should see pride fighting, they allow more rules, such as kicking the dude's head while on the floor.

Before UFC changed the rules they were allowed to punch in the nuts, had no gloves, headbutt, everything was allowed...
but they were almost banned for those rules so they changed it.
