Dammit!!!!!!

So, I started a thread about 3 weeks back. I slightly pulled/strained/tore my left hamstring and calf muscle diving for a softball. It hurt like a mo-fo, was bruised and sore. It was healing nicely, and a few days ago I was even able to jog a few miles without incident.

Yesterday I got a call from a bro, they needed a left fielder for a game. Of course, I volunteered, against advice from my wife. 1st inning, 1st batter, I'm in left field. the batter hits a shot over my head (it was a home run), I turned, with the intention of sprinting, took 2 steps and felt/heard 2 distinct pops. DAMMIT! Leg re-injured yet again......OHHHHHHH the pain. WTF man!!! Am I getting old? So, I guess 3 weeks was not enough time.

Here is my question.

WHY can I jog on it, even run at a steady pace. But, any quick movements, to include sprinting, causes pain or injury? Even last night, I continued to play. I could jog out to left field between innings no problem (slight pain), but any quick movements and my shit was through

Now, I have to wait another 3 weeks for this bitch to heal, so I can start jogging again. Getting old sucks

Quick movements are a LOT more high impact than just jogging or running. Think about it... when you take off to sprint to a ball you pretty much use everything you've got to get yourself moving. Hope it heals fast man... just take it easy

here is the thing (ironic). When I was a young private in the army, and about 20 years old my section sergeant got injured. It was flag football season, and he really couldnt run/cut like he should. He was about 30 years old at the time, and we would make comments like "damn, I guess his ass is just too old, time to retire..." Now, I'm in that boat. My thing is, I see guys out there like 45 years old still hanging with the program. WTF.....

I refuse to stop doing stuff, but the problem is my body is not as resiliant (sp?) as it used to be. In the past couple years, my leg and my back have gone out, my gut is getting a little larger, I cant eat anything and everything and not suffer, my stomach goes to shit if I eat hot food, blah blah blah.....

Why cant I be an ironman and 20 years old again?
