UFC Fight Oct 14th ***SPOILER***

Anyone else watch the fight on Sat. Oct. 14th. What did you guys think. I couldn't believe Rich Franklin lost so bad. Shawn Sherk our Minnesota native won though in the 155lb spot.

the whole time he couldnt fend off the Muay Thai clinch for some reason.. After he got out, he was drained of his stamina. He was outta of his element against another striker that could strike just as hard or even harder then he could.

The clinch does take a lot out of you. Pulling down on the kneck makes it hard to breathe and you are trying to pull up with your lower back so you don't get a knee to face. I'm just surprised Franklin didn't try and bear hug or take it to the ground rather than just standing there. He said at the end of the fight that he had trained with the clinch and thought he would be good at being put in it. (something like that) He didn't look good at defending it at all.

Fighting off the Clinch is what tires you out. Your burning excess energy trying to unlock the clinch. You noticed when he finally got out he was winded, couldnt do anything. He was a lil rocked yes but couldnt even keep his arms up regardless. Franklin couldnt bear hug him, no strength he was outta it.

what i was trying to say hellbound is, i'm surprised he didn't bear hug or take it to the ground when he realized the clinch was too strong for him. He was only in the clinch the first 2 minutes, you'd think after about 10 sec you'd figure it out and do something different. When I was in wrestling and jiu-jitsu when ever anyone tried to clinch or hold my kneck that was strong than me I figured out another way to attack. I was just surprised at the one dimensional fight tactics of rich franklin. I had heard he was pretty good on the ground, so if standup isn't working then you might as well try something different.

exactly...
1-close the distance
2-achieve dominant body position
3-finish the fight

harder than it sounds, and I'm no expert, but if one way doesn't work you've got to go another route...
