Don't buy gas on May 15th?

I keep getting emails and what not on this and I heard about it on CNN too...

I know if everyone in the US didn't buy gas tomorrow they would lose that money but wouldn't a 3 day no buy be better..

Don't know

1 day is not going to do anything. cause they will make it up the next day when everyone buys the gas. they know we need it and will pay for it and that's the bottom line.

Unless we all stop driving our cars/trucks, nothing will change accept the price of gas going up.

actually, we could all stop driving and nothing would change.

the amount of fuel used by PASSENGER VEHICLES is so small in comparison to the amount of fuel used to transport goods and people who provide services, that it is pretty much insignificant.

so you dont buy gas this week, so what.

you'll still have your mail delivered (by a gasoline powered vehicle), you'll still want your newspaper delivered (by a gasoline powered vehicle), businesses still need their items delivered to them (by gasoline powered and diesel powered trucks) etc.

the 20 gallons a week you use is insignificant.

only major impact would be if *ALL* airlines and aircraft, public transportation, modes of shipping, and the MILITARY came to a halt for one day.

as the cliche says, HELL will freeze over before that happens.

Post up - What are you guys paying for fuel in different areas of the USA? (or round the world for that matter)

In the UK we're up to around 98 pence per liter which, using an online currency converter, is $1.94 (Is a US liter the same as a UK liter?)

I'm 42 now but can still remember when I was 12 or so paying 50 pence for 1 UK gallon (4.5 UK liters) for my scrambler bikes!

20 gal, per person X 290 million private cars and trucks, sounds like a significant # to me

Price of gas would come down if we didn't buy it but a heap of gas stations would go out of business also.

I did say all

I know that unless we start using other fuels(battery) the price of gas will keep rising,

That's not really going to work when our landfills get overloaded with these batteries. hydrogen cars may work better, time will tell:corn

Gas is in high demand in the US so it won't make any difference.
Gas has an inelastic demand curve so as price goes up consumptiond does not change much. so like everyone said, it doesnt matter if you don't buy it today, because you are gonna need it tomorrow.

I'm paying 4$ a gal. here In Calif. That's 3.75 liters I think. Cost about 16$ to fill up my R1. If I lived in the UK It would cost 32bucks? At those prices I would have to use my push bike and sell the R1
