Who killed the electric car?

I just watched this documentery/movie. It makes me sad that we are not all driving electric cars and encourage everyone to see that movie. I will only comment for now how I feel but encourage peeps to watch it and make their own opnions on how fucked up the world is and the control of the Oil Companies and the government. For GM to crush all the electric cars (EV-1)is just plain stupid.

Comments welcome. :r1budha

like most conspiracies, it's long on theories, short on hard facts.

kinda like global warming.

like most "documentaries" it isnt

how about telling people how bad for the environment tje batteries in those cars are.

and how much pollution is required to make them.

and how much they really contaminate the soil when put into a dump.

now figure out that the real killer of the "electric car" (it's not dead btw, the hybrid took over because it was superior) was the public who doesn't want short range, high dollar, and highly inefficient vehicles.

mow include the fact that electric vehicles are powered by electricity which is created, in most cases, by burning the very fossil fuels people want to replace.

oops.

there's a reason internal combustion engines are still around.
they are the single most efficient way to create forward momentum in a small compact and relatively light weight package for use by the masses.

x2.

if this is a conspiracy, it was started with Newton inventing physics. 'Cause that's what makes gasoline incredibly practical.

I guess people want to be warm rather than BREATHE.

Most people want a car with a longer range than 120 miles but most people drive 30 miles a day or less. I can see that the electric car will not do a long haul across the USA so have the "other" car for that. But since MOST pepole drive so little the electric car would be a positive. Drive to work and to home is what MOST people do anyways. So if you drive 120 miles till empty on an electric car I dont see the problem!

and ones that aren't run down regularly go thru batteries, which you end up burning just as much fuel to build, in addition to the fuel burned generating the power to juice up the car, and the power lost transmitting said power thru the lines.

and dont forget in reality, and electric car is no more efficient than the power generating plant that produces the electricuty that powers it....

an conveniently forgotten fact by most idjits

and as we all learned in 6th grade science, its more efficient to directly produce fuel that to produce something and use the resultant to produce something else....

oops
damn law of entropy

most people in california drive more than 30 miles per day.
now throw in that they need to run an air conditioner (people arent going to give that up) and subtract that from the MAXIMUM range of 100miles with the latest tech batteries, and how many people want to risk stopping on the hghway wioth no way to charge the car and move it.....

it was a flawed principle and continues to be so.

werd.

either you can generate the energy in a big power plant, then run it thru a transformer, down hundreds of miles of lines, thru another transformer, into an itty bitty wire, then store it in a battery that'll naturally deplete over time, then thru a motor with a limited efficiency to move the car.

OR you could just burn the same fuel that the powerplant would burn... in the car... when you need it.

France are usually pretty good about being on the leading edge of technology, and being educated about shit rather than being ignorant.
