The sheriff says...

You can have your choice....a speeding ticket or modified exhaust....

I took modified exhaust...he had to look the VC up and then asked me for the ticket back so he could write "correctable"...

Anyone heard of such a thing?

I was cruising up PCH towards Malibu and just passed Topanga Canyon....evidently three sheriffs were pulling everyone over and writing them up..

I was doing about 55 in a 45, but he claimed 60....I didn't argue (I have a Speedohealer) and with all the traffic and pulling everyone over, wondered how they could single out everyone and all...

They had 5 - 6 cars all pulled over and couldn't handle it all...

Good thing I saved my stock exhaust....

Oh, he said "your exhaust wasn't that loud anyways..."

all aftermarket exhaust for sportbikes expressly state "FOR OFFROAD USE ONLY" right in their packaging.

They do not conform to EPA laws for sounds and spark arrestance in most cases.

it's also a bullshit ticket, but yet another reason not to live in commifornia.

You just have to go show you have the stock exhaust back on right?
I got a ticket for tinted side windows on my car and just had to take the tints off and show them.

In Canada(Montreal), I got something similar with a car, instead of giving me ticket with a fine, he gave me a ticket where I have 48 hours to change the exhaust and go to a local police station to have it verified...

The next day I went to the shop where I bought the exhaust, and they referred me to a police station nearby where they would actually just sign the paper without bother checking it...

Denver just passed a sound ordernince(sp) and any bike w/o the epa stamp on it. Ticket is $500 and you have to go and get the bike tested and then you can et a stamp if it passes the db est. No aftermarket exhaust has such a stamp. I think they are trying to go ftr the Harley guys with straight pipes. But the funny thing is that they did a sound test on a police motorcycle(harley) and it failed. I just think it is a bullshit ticket if they go after anyone with an aftermarket exhaust. They just need to go after the REALLY loud ones IMO.

Ya know what? Since I've been off work since April, I'm finding that cops generally just suck......

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.
