Question How long will forums last?

Will we be chatting on MM in 2015, VB version 57.4? Will new forms of communication supercede these? (I'm sure).

When will the last post be made on MM, and if so, what do you think will take its place? Or, maybe it will always be out there, but just fade into oblivion, pushed aside by some virtual 3-d chat room.

Just wondering. :

In one form or another, it will be here for a long time. I'm not sure how or what but this is only the beginning of talking on the internet.

Good question... I'm sure some new technology will come along that's practical. Hrm.... I shall ponder this!

just like any kind of technology, it will change and go thru the evolutionary process. chat in this format will be history by then. something bigger and better always comes along.

And....it will always be MM to me too....

My friend ran a BBS (Bulletin Board System for you kids) in the 80's, and it was very much like this, just not as purdy. In those days, you had to call each BBS (had to have a phone number) to dial in at like 1200 baud (1,200 vs. 56,000 or 56k). He ran it on an Apple IIe with 2 floppy drives (they didn't have hard drives), and there was still shit to download.

Telepresence...

Having meetings now using this equipment, and it really gives you the impression the people you are talking to half way around the world are actually in the room with you.....

Impressive.
