Totaled.

Well everyone. My first bike wreck. Probably not the last.

I was goin about 45 mph when some 16 year old girl who's only been driving a few months decided she was jeff gordon so she made a left in front of me...i was either going to hit her or the ground. so i chose the ground. paramedics say that was a smart decision because i would either be dead or have a broken neck right about now. so an ambulance ride, 8 hours in the hospital and over 10 g's worth of medical bills, my gear did it's job and I only got 4 stitches and some road rash on my hips. the bike is probably going to be totaled out considering it wouldn't start and they had a hard time getting it on the tow truck. all i remember is rolling with the bike, then laying in the middle of the intersection with screetching tires all around me. i thought i was gonna get hit by another car. which would have hurt a tad. all in all, i better get a new bike out of this.

make sure your Ins. Agent is on the ball... If you did not make contact with her car they might say you over reacted or find some other way to make it not her fault.

Good Luck and glad you are ok

Glad you weren't hurt too bad, having your gear on is always a good choice.. The paramedics are right it's better to lay the bike down then go flying over the hood of a car..

Guess it's time for a 600cc and now that you have the crash experience out of your way you will know to stay away from those pesky teenage drivers.. :thumb

So where did you get the laceration that needed stitches?

She conveniently has Allstate which is who I have my insurance through as well. I called them and asked if she made a claim yet. She hasn't so I went ahead and took care of that for her. I told her agent that my medical bills are being sent directly to them. And her agent's adjuster is taking a look at my bike tomorrow to get an estimate. I think it's going to be totaled out which would suck because I'll loose money. I also told her agent that they are going to pay me for the 2 days I missed of work as well. So pretty much everything is taken care of in that area

The gash was on my knee...kind of sucks because its right on my knee cap so when I walk it bleeds. So I'm confined to the couch and a bottle of Vicodine

And trust me, as soon as my bike is fixed and these stitches are out, I will be on that bike in a heart beat

Sarah, your bike is new enough that you should be able to make them replace it if in fact it is totaled. This is a gray area, but you are in the drivers seat here so you call the shots. In fact they will ask you to sign a medical release before any claims are settled. You have the power here to make sure they step up and do the right thing, don't let them bully you into something less then a full replacement if it's totaled and all of your medical bills.

I was hit by a drunk driver and totaled my truck about 20 years ago.... I was not hurt at all and they gave me a check for 5k just to sign the release, this may have been because I could have probably sued them for much more.... but I was not out to get anyone. I just wanted my truck fixed.

Yeah I'm not lookin for any extra money here...I mean it wouldn't hurt but as long as all my stuff is paid for and I don't lose any money on the bike then I'm happy.

Sucks about the bike. But like Biga said " health is way better to have".

Now for the other matter, we need pics of the road rash

J/K to good health
