there is a way around that. You might want to ask r1lover.

funny, some forums I try to view at work say "blocked" because they are a forum, but I can get on other forums just fine... Maybe it has to do with descriptions in the tags or something...

yea well i can't bring those devices up on the floor because of all the secret squirrel shit that's up there. So when things like this happen it's either a) the proxy went down or b) someone forgot to reset the blocks after a reboot.

If you've got secret squirrel shit going on up there, then WTF does it have internet access for? All anyone has to do is pull up a browser to a blog and C&P away, or send e-mails, or telnet/SSH out and all those secret squirrel turds are all over the internet.

well both networks are separated they don't have the same backbone so they never crosslink eachother, and you have to have a clearance and the codes to the cipher lock to get onto the floor. so the likeliness of someone actually being to get to the secret squirrel stuff is very unlikely.

Oh and all blog sites are blocked no matter what.

I "can" get on at work but I'm not supposed to. Usually I'll just log in for a couple then clear out the cache. I'm sure the admins could track what I'm doing but they haven't said anything yet.

I remember working for the bank, we'd get "reminders" every month that email and internet were "STRICTLY for business use ONLY." Not only that, if you went to a site that you weren't supposed to, you'd get the pop-up that said how everything was tracked and logged etc etc...

I surfed the net every day, sometimes until I was BORED of the net, probably hit those warning blockers at least 15 times a day. Nothing ever came of it..... Much like any company, IT staff was understaffed and overtasked. Probably spent so much time reacting to "fire drills" that scanning user folders for history was probably one of the last things they had time for.

That said, now that I'm back working for uncle sam, I gotta be a little more careful. I can still surf pretty decently, but some things (like rican said) like blogs and some forums are blocked. Social sites, game sites, obviously adult sites are too. I had a bunch of stuff up on the comp one day and a window popped up in the lower right of my screen, something about an admin logging on remotely. SHIT!!! I turned off the computer because I had a bunch of browser windows open. 3 seconds later, the phone rings... They asked me why my computer shut off, told me they wanted to log on because they had a report of MS Excel not working properly. I talked my way out of it...
