NO

it does not work, period. This went around on an engineering forum I follow awhile back, less than 0.5% increase in efficiency, if everything in the hydrolysis system is working 100% efficiency.

If anything, you'll lose fuel mileage if you use this system.

You wanna improve fuel mileage, driving classes and weight reduction is still the best bet.

HAIL TO THE KING!!

Didn't Hydro Quebec had a technology of running engine with water and GM bought the invention from them long time ago so that it won't hit the market?

I'm not gonna say it's impossible, but I haven't heard of it.

Running an engine on water is possible, but the amount of energy it takes to break the water down means that until there's a major breakthru in the efficiency of either the engine or the hydrolysis process, you're not gonna "turn a profit" by doing it.

like a perpetual motion thing I guess.

like if you put a fan on the top of the car that powered a generator that pushed a motor for the wheels, IN THEORY you wouldn't need the engine, or not for much. But in the real world there's parasitic losses that means it'll never work.

the only one I've seen that I'll hold judgement on is BMW's system which uses the exhaust heat from the cats to boil the water supply and make it easier to break down. But really.. you're not gaining efficiency there, you're just getting some back that you had to lose to heat the cats anyhow.

HAIL TO THE KING!!

Hmmm do we need another world war for a LEAP in technology to happen, seems about the only way to inspire scientists to pull their fingers out of their collective arses.

Maybe we should talk about hidden / suppressed technology...anyone got some?

Mythbusters just put this one to the test. The device did produce a little hydrogen, but not enough to run a car on even with gas..
