little bit of both, to be honest. That plus with the new 800cc formula, I'm not learning anything. the 990s was a new lesson every weekend, we where really pushing the understanding of the physics that govern a bike. with the 800's there's nothing that I didn't already know when the 500's where around, much less the 990's.

But ya... I do hate Lorenzo enough that I am not watching live, probably won't watch that race at all actually.

It's about racing JR, not so much trying to figure out everything and learning how and why... trust me and you know this too, there is much to learn with these bikes as the cc limit decreases.

For me tho, I've been watching it the last couple of years more or less just to see what does and doesn't work and how. the Honda's simplicity, yamaha's reverse rotation crank letting Rossi in deeper on the brakes, slide friendly long swingarms on the KR. Ducati's hemi chambers (radial valving if you're italian and refuse to acknowledge that you're copying a Dodge idea from the '60's).

The reason I enjoyed watching the 990's was that they where teaching us stuff that the 500's never did. Mostly just how to deal with an incredible abundance of hp. Whereas the 500's where essentially an all out hp race, they never hit "the limit." of chassis tech.

With the 800's we're no longer learning that lesson, it's back to being a hp race.

that's my $0.02 anyhow.
