I need your help - PLEASE

As many of you know, I lost my son in a motorcycle accident in 2002. There was a man in Lafayette, CA who received one of his corneas and a man in San Jose, CA who received the other. That's all I know. The organ donor bank would not release any other information. Out of frustration, I finally gave up my search to find these men several years ago, but I just saw a movie that made me want to at least try one more time to find them. If ANYONE knows of someone in either of these cities that may have received a cornea transplant in 2002, I would really like to find these 2 men and meet them, to tell them about the man that has become a part of them.

I know that many of you live far away, but if anyone local can help me or can forward this request on to someone who might know something, I'd be forever grateful.

Thank you !!!

I know I can't be of any help Lori, but best of luck in your search. I'm sure those men have gone on to lead better lives because of Joey.

Thank you so much. I have no doubt that those men are leading better lives now.....I'd just like to be a small part of those lives if I can. If not, I'm okay with that too.

Good luck on finding them Lori, I'm not sure if it's doable though... it will be a tough task I'm sure.

I'm not sure if it's doable either, but it's worth trying again. I gave up once out of frustration, but am ready to plug along and keep looking.

Thank you !! I met someone who works for a donor bank, so she's going to check and see what she can find out. That's further that I've gotten in the past, so we'll see.

I think there are strict privacy laws on not revealing the names of people who received donated organs so I don't think you will be able to..

There are definitely privacy laws, which I have adhered to. However, I truly believe that the ball was dropped and that my contact information never reached the donor recipients. It's certainly their choice to meet me or not. I can understand if there was just 1 recipient who decided he didn't want to meet the donor's family, but it seems odd to me that both would have made that decision. If it were me, I would most definitely want to know about the person who changed my life. Most (not all) people that I have spoken to also feel the same way.

I don't think I'll have much luck this time either. I've heard back from 2 newspapers, saying that if they posted that type of article for 1 person, they'd have to do it for everyone that has had the same request (which is understandable). Plus, I met someone that works at a local donor bank, but she would have had to work for the same bank that harvested the corneas in order to get any information. Another dead end so far, but I've posted everywhere, so we'll just have to wait and see if anything happens.

I'll keep you posted if I get any positive information.
