Agreed. There's a lot more religious freedom in the world now than in times past. Doesn't make anything going on now right though.

it's a particularly messy piece of Christian history. The church (this is pre reformation so don't be thinking protestants are exempt here.) Told the people that the reason the first 4 crusades had failed to take Jerusalem was that the soldiers had all sinned in life. Therefor the logical solution was to send soldiers who were free from sin. This meant children below the age of reason as by church rules they weren't accountable for their own actions yet and therefor couldn't possibly have sinned yet, and would be sure to win in any armed conflict.

So they rounded up 7000 kids from France and Germany (Spain was Muslim at the time) and marched them to Italy under the pretense of being another crusade to convert "the holy land."

They made it as far as Genoa and were sold into slavery and prostitution.

I'll have to read up on that. I've been enjoying reading history books more than anything else recently and I have a book on the crusades at home waiting to be read.

yea the crusades and the Rome-Byzantium split are an interesting little piece of history. But ya it defintely makes me feel like it's getting better as we go on. I mean even WW2 was a lot more civilized than most of the crusades era stuff.

Back to my present day religeous show and tell. These animals are nothing but that. Rapists and molesters hiding behind so called religeous protocols. Then you have the zealots who are brain washed on the doctrine and follow it like sheep.
