FIM inspected both, and decided after discussion with the track that Barber wasn't ready to hold a world-class event. Was a split decision between FIM and Barber management. Facilities and track are top notch, but they didn't want to get in over their heads supporting a race they couldn't pay for.

Laguna is lucky Yamaha jumped in a dumped 2 million into improvements.....
