MotoGP: Rossi explains reason for Ferrari test...

THURSDAY 4TH AUGUST 2005

MotoGP ace Valentino Rossi has thanked Ferrari after again being given the opportunity to drive their F1 car.

Rossi, who has just signed a new one-year deal with Yamaha, explained that the reason for the test was to get a 'better understanding of an F1 car'. He completed his two day outing on Wednesday, notching up over 80 laps at Fiorano - the Scuderia's private test track - in last year's car, the championship winning, F2004.

"I wanted to get a better understanding of a Formula 1 car," he explained, "and I would like to thank Ferrari for giving me the opportunity to do so.

"The two days were intensive and interesting. I completed a lot of kilometres and I began to understand the handling of the car, working with the engineers and [test driver] Marc Gene.

"Now I go back to the two wheels where there is still a long way to go to the end of the season."

Rossi should move to something different, he has this sport dominated! As for Ferrari being a championship car this year...not a chance in hell.

I would be sad to see such talent move to another sport but it would shake up both sports really nicely.

That's life.....it's always changing.

oh and I'm not so sure how badly Ferrari will go after Rossi as an unproven Open Wheel driver. Raikkonen and Freddo will both be available shortly.

Also, with Nico Rosberg and Heikki Kovaleinen coming up from GP2...Seats are going to be filled very fast.

no i meet him many years later.
He came down to Daytona because there is a museum there owned by a german guy for bikes (it's his personal collection basically).
Surtees was there because the guy had bought a bike at auction that surtees had ridden.
I just happened to be lucky enough to know the german guy through my work.
