First ever Supercross backflip!

From Cyclenews.com....

Travis Pastrana just attempted a back flip after winning his qualifying race for tonight's Daytona Supercross at Daytona International Speedway.

Pastrana won the race that puts him into tonight's program, and in doing so he attempted a back flip off the finish line jump. Though, he didn't quite make the landing,Pastrana's move still had the small afternoon crowd going crazy.

hmmm......

Probably looked good for the crowd, but I wonder if he damaged his bike? Or, did he get hurt?

so do a lot of people.....

so what?

i've watched him since the days he rode suzuki 80's, and always thought he had tons more talent than either charmichael or stewart (they were all three in the original terrafirma btw), but just like anthony gobert, he has always managed to piss away the year by doing something stupid....

too bad....

coulda...shoulda...woulda......

i would have loved to see all three of those guys racing against each other for 5 years......

would have been the very best thing to happen to supercross and motocross in quite a while....

instead we got pastrana, the never was....
stewart the maybe will be......

and charmicahel who is the goat, and will probably retire....

Charmichael retire? What? Stewart will dominate all that he can, as long as he stays healthy. As far as Pastrana goes. I don't see why he's even racing. He has the DVD's-The freestyle comps, the rally car thing....He seems to be able to do whatever the hell he wants. I think he could have honestly been a fantastic racer if he would have just put his mind and body into it but it's not going to happen. A waste really. He could have stomped much of the competition if he put in the effort.

i wish i had the ability to pick and choose what i do and to have the financial ability to get rich in whatever peaks my interest at any given time. obviously he isnt into motocross as much as others think he should be. its his life

he reached a point where he knew he was going to make more money at freestyle than supercross. he's an amazing freestyler. whether he had supercross talent or not, freestyle is MUCH less work for easily twice the money.

i don't hate on him at all. kid is richer than hell, and that's BECAUSE he went in a different direction than supercross.

i'm not baggin on his choice.

i'm just mad he didnt stay in super/motocross as i think it would have been the best for THAT sport to have all three in there dicing and competing and pushing each other.......

would have been like the glory days of 500cc road racing with Schwantz, Rainey, Dohhan, Lawson (somewhat), etc....

thats what i miss.

I loved watching TP hanging it all out in the heat races - crowd favorite! He may not be a racer, he's a rider! You can tell he loves it. He jumps into all kinds of stuff, he even ran some Enduro races in Europe against some of the best in the world last year.

yea....i know....

sucks when you constantly hear about guys with TONS of natural ability....that just never quite get there. I know Travis got distracted with other stuff, but I wish both Larocco and Windham would have scored 250 supercross championships. They were always SO close....but not quite.

Miss Kevin out there....
