new TT lap record

John McGuinness on the HM Plant Fireblade broke the lap record at the TT (about15 minutes ago) with a lap of 17.42.73 at 127.81 average MPH. Guy Martin was also very fast with a lap of 17.54.5 at 126.4 average MPH. Practice continues for 30 more minutes tonight but everybody switched to supersport or superstock machinery.

well after 5 laps of the 6 completed it looks like McGuiness is going away with the formula 1 race. He leads by around 40 sec Ian Lougher who in term leads Ian Hutchinson by around 30 secs. McGuiness beat the lap record twice in the race, the first and second lap. Quite impressive judging the first lap is a standing start and the second he stoped for fuel. The new record is 17min41.71 at an average speed of 127.93mph!! Guy Martin went out on the first lap along with Bruce Ansty.

ok official result, McGuiness first on the HM Plant cbr1000rr, Ian Lougher second on the Stobart Honda cbr1000rr (39 sec behind) and third Ian Hutchinson on the McAdoo Kawasaki zx10r (53 secs from leader).
First win in the formula 1 for Honda in the last 6 years. 25th podium for Ian Lougher. 9th TT victory for McGuiness.

sorry for the bunch of quick posts, I get my info of the live timing and radio so it still comes in.
Jeremy Toye (US rider) was the best newcomer. First time at the TT races he finished 26th.
