MotoGP FP2

One day after Valentino Rossi confirmed that he’d be staying in MotoGP with Yamaha for 2007, the Italian began the task of turning around his dismal 2006 season by setting the fastest time in Friday practice for his home race, the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.

The Camel Yamaha rider was fastest in the morning and again in the afternoon, with his morning time nearly half a second faster.

The order of the top three was the same in both sessions and all three were faster in the morning than the afternoon. Behind Rossi came the Marlboro Ducati team of Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau.

The second three were different in session two, with Rizla Suzuki’s John Hopkins fourth followed by LCR Honda’s Casey Stoner and Repsol Honda’s Nicky Hayden. All three improved on their first session times.

Then came Fortuna Honda’s Marco Melandri, on the strength of his first session time, followed by Kenny Roberts Jr. and Makoto Tamada. Roberts Jr. will race under the colors of fictional sponsor Venture Petroleum. The branding allows him to play a part in “Velocity,” the first feature length dramatic movie using MotoGP as a backdrop. Written and directed by Jeff Jensen, the movie will use footage from the 2006 season when it’s released in the spring of 2007.

Nothing matters until QP, I have been mis-lead by FP1 and FP2 at almost every race...

Actually nothing matters till the end of the race.
But it's interesting to see, what might happen.

The speed is misleading as it is taken right at the brake markers. The 325 kph is merely indicative of Casey being late on the brakes off the main straight.
